Centre for Social Data Analytics
Webinar: learn how analytics can assist in housing prioritization
Demand for supportive housing far outstrips supply, but survey-based triage tools often fail to prioritize and serve clients with the highest needs. Join us for this 75-minute webinar to learn about a data analytics tool that can reduce the need for intrusive and lengthy questioning and more accurately stratify your clients according to their risk of experiencing homelessness-related adversities.

The Housing Assistance Screening Tool (HAST) was developed by the Centre for Social Data Analytics (Auckland University of Technology (NZ)) in conjunction with Allegheny County, Pennsylvania who have used it since 2020.

During this event you will hear from the researcher who has led development of the HAST, Professor Rhema Vaithianathan (Centre for Social Data Analytics), housing researcher and HAST collaborator Professor Dennis Culhane (Chair, Actionable Intelligence for Social Policy, University of Pennsylvania) and the Director of Human Services at Allegheny County, Erin Dalton.

This event, chaired by Joy Moses from the National Alliance to End Homelessness, will cover:

• Housing, triage, and the limitations of current tools (Prof Dennis Culhane)

• Data requirements, performance and potential of the HAST (Prof Rhema Vaithianathan)

• Allegheny County’s experience of using a HAST tool for housing triage (Erin Dalton)
